Lost files/Sounds and Multimedia sound schemes in control panel
I've experienced a problem with win95 sound schemes where something on the PC overwrites the sound for "New Mail Notification" (I'm using Exchange) with the file "chord.wav". No other sound events are changed but the new mail notofication. I have to change it every time win95 is started.

The sound scheme does not play. All other audio works fine. I have checked the audio settings and everything appears to be ok. When I go into the sound schemes and change the sound, it works for awhile and then no longer. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I don't have a suggestion, but I have this same issue

To save your own, use the Sounds applet in Control Panel to load the sounds you want, then save it as a scheme. This seems to be a slightly older idea than Desktop

silly question?
(1) Windows has sound schemes. I run with a single user account with administrator privileges and I have 3 sound schemes under the Sounds tab of the Sounds and When I bring up this form the Sound Scheme field is selected and it's quite easy to inadvertently change the scheme, especially with a wheel mouse.
